Three Asians and a White Girl go to Michigan

A couple of weekends ago we went on a weekend roadtrip to Southern Michigan. It was the perfect relaxing weekend. Our initial plan was to go visit a couple of wineries but we completely forgot about the time change to eastern so only had time for one. It all turned out for the best though, we stayed at the Round Barn Winery for a couple hours trying multiple wines. 

Afterwards, we drove to St. Joseph, a town along the coast of Lake Michigan, where we walked along the beach and had some dinner. 

The next day, we went blueberry picking! So much fun! I think we all went a little crazy because we were so focused on picking blueberries to fill our buckets but it was worth it. The berries were super sweet!

Ming was back in Chicago for a weekend. So obviously our plans included eating and drinking. Friday night started off a bit of a mess but it can only go up from there, right?

#TBT: Apartment Family Portrait

This takes us back almost 4 years ago. Ming drew this wonderful portrait of our "Apartment Family" in college. Thank goodness she did not give up the whole business degree thing otherwise Jessica and I might have had to support her. But during our Junior year of college, we got this crazy idea to live together with another of our friend. We lived together for 2 very long years! JK! It actually was a blast and went by way too fast! From staying up late watching movies and True Blood (well some of us who could stay up) to making dinners, pulling pranks and just doing what all the other crazy college kids did when they finally got their own place. It really was an awesome time! They just wish they could live with me again!

Less than a week after a discussion in class about compulsive behaviors, including shopping, I go on a spending spree. But I maintain that I do not have a problem. All of this is totally justifiable...and necessary. Ok, maybe not necessary but I got some insane deals.

One of my favorite things that I got to got to last month was the Keukenhof Gardens, which are tulip gardens. The Netherlands are famous for their tulips so I thought it would be interesting to learn more about tulips.

Review: Lush Fresh Face Mask in Brazened Honey

I cannot say enough good things about this mask. After hearing about Lush's fresh face masks for years, I finally decided to try them. Brazened Honey was recommended to me by one of the sales associates so I picked it up, went home, and within a week, bought another pot.

 Spring Break 2009 at Notre Dame University

Since it is Jess's Spring Break and mine is coming next week, I decided to put a picture of our first college Spring Break. Now most college kids decide to head south for Spring Break and live it up but not us. We decide to go to another college in the Midwest. It was a fun trip though! We spent a few days with our friend Jackie at Notre Dame. The campus is gorgeous! One of my favorite parts of the campus is the Grotto. There are candles that you can light and you can pray there. We walked around campus and saw "Touch Down Jesus" and the Cathedral. The Cathedral is breath taking! The list to get married there is three years long! But I can totally see why. The stained-glass windows and arches are beautiful. It is definitely something that you need to see! My friends dorm was cool too. There were sinks in their rooms and there was also one of those really old elevators with the iron gate you had to close before the actual doors closed. It was awesome! The best part of the trip though was being able to spend the break with my besties!

When Jess first went off to Iowa for Pharmacy School in, Courtney and I went on a road trip to visit her for a weekend. The funny thing is that the memory I remember most is taking an afternoon nap but I promise our weekend was not as sad as it sounds! We also explored the Pharmacy School Campus, Iowa City's downtown, and shopped at the Outlets.

Travel Tuesdays

I think one of the best things about this blog is that all three of us get to talk about topics that are most relevant to us. Right now in my life, one thing I've learned is travel. I have plenty of horror travel stories and advice which can be useful so I'm going to start writing about my travel stories and things I've learned along the way.

One of the worst parts about traveling all the time is that I've had lots of experiences with flights delays and cancellations. For example, last month, I was flying back to St. Louis from San Francisco but got stuck in Denver because my flight was cancelled. Initially the flight was only delayed but turned into a cancellation. Here are some of my tips for dealing with a cancelled flight:


1. Go to the Airline Customer Service Desk
When your flight is first cancelled, the first thing to do is to immediately go to the airline Customer Service Desk to reschedule your flight. It's important to remember a whole plane has just been cancelled so finding the nearest customer service desk is essential so you won't get stuck in line waiting forever.

2. Know your rights
Depending on your situation and your rescheduled flight, the airline will be required to provide meal and/or hotel vouchers. For my cancelled flight, it was the last flight to St. Louis for the day so they could only reschedule me for another day. That meant, the airline provided me with a breakfast meal voucher and a hotel voucher for the night.

3. Sometimes it's better to buy another flight
If you're under a tight schedule or your rescheduled flight is not what you wanted, it can be better to just buy another flight through another airline. My flight to St. Louis was supposed to be on Sunday but they rescheduled me on a flight on Tuesday. Well I had work on Monday so that wasn't going to work for me so I bought another flight through Southwest for Monday morning and just got a refund instead. Another option is to fly standby on an earlier flight but you'll have to rely on pure luck for that. The action you take just depends on what kind of schedule you want and the date of your rescheduled flight.

Jess is 24!!!!

Today, we celebrate Jess’ 24th Birthday!!! (She is old like Ming now.) Hey! I resent that.  Although we cannot all be together on this day, we made sure we celebrated her birthday a month ago by spending an evening in the city with some friends. We ate at The Radler in Logan Square (a Bavarian beer hall) followed by drinks at Chicago Distilling Company. We finally ended the night at the Vegan diner Cafe Mustache. (I cannot say that I was much of a fan. The food seemed to be missing something, which obviously was the dairy but the cookie dough milkshake was delicious!) Happy Birthday Jessica!! May all your dreams come true!!! Happy Birthday from me too!

#TBT, or Throwback Thursday, is a series where every Thursday we look back on our favorite memories throughout the years. (Yes, I realize hashtags are useless on Blogger but deal with it) We have been friends for over 8 years so there are quite a lot of memories to choose from. While our New York trip isn't much of a throwback, it's the most recent trip we took and I got a pretty good ab workout from laughing so hard the whole weekend.

The Beginning

Hi everyone! We're three friends from high school, which continued to being roommates in college. Now we're all living in three different states as two of us started working and another one continuing her education. Our friendship has never changed, we still make fun of each other way too much and try to see each other whenever we can. This blog started as an random idea during a vacation we took together. We're going to post about some of our favorite things: food, fashion, travel, and our random adventures separate and together.
